BOTOX:

BOTOX is the abbreviation for Botulinum Toxin. This toxin is made from bacteria and may be used for medicinal purposes. Although the use of BOTOX in Facial Plastic Surgery is relatively new, it has been used safely in the field of medicine for almost two decades. Localized injections have been used very effectively in patients with involuntary or uncontrolled facial and eyelid spasms

Because some people have very active muscles of facial expression, fine wrinkling or deep furrows may occur prematurely in the skin associated with the underlying musculature i.e. frown area, crows feet area, etc. By using small doses of BOTOX, selected muscles that create furrowing or wrinkling may be made inactive during the treatment period. The full effect of a single treatment develops over the first 24-48 hours following injection and is maintained for approximately 6 months.
